BIRDING
2011-2012

San Benito, TX area is a birders paradise.  When you want to explore all the natural wonders of southernmost Texas, then San Benito nis ideally situated in the middle of the Rio Grande Valley.  There is plenty of local parks, state parks, and national wildlife refuges to enjoy.  The World Birding Centers add to the interest providing birding and butterfly centers, guides, literature, and environmentally friendly places to seek out your favorite birds.
South Padre Island and Mexico, only about 25 miles away, are  both renowned places to see some of south Texas's 550+ species of birds.
Have you seen Green or Ringed Kingfishers, olive sparrows, Chachalacas, altimra Orioles, common paraques, grooved billed anis, kisskidees, long-billed thrashers, green jays,    or a white cardinal?  Well, come join in!!  You may enhance your "life lists"!  Fun and Sun has 2 monthly trips to various sites.  Our local Audubon club supplements that with field trips.
Whether you are a rookie or pro birder, San Benito is for YOU!  Come see!
