Benito, TX area is a birders paradise. When you want to explore
all the natural wonders of southernmost Texas, then San Benito nis
ideally situated in the middle of the Rio Grande Valley. There is
plenty of local parks, state parks, and national wildlife refuges to
enjoy. The World Birding Centers add to the interest providing
birding and butterfly centers, guides, literature, and environmentally
friendly places to seek out your favorite birds.
South Padre Island and Mexico, only about 25 miles away, are both
renowned places to see some of south Texas's 550+ species of birds.
Have you seen Green or Ringed Kingfishers, olive sparrows, Chachalacas,
altimra Orioles, common paraques, grooved billed anis, kisskidees,
long-billed thrashers, green jays,
or a
white
cardinal? Well, come join in!! You may enhance your "life
lists"! Fun and Sun has 2 monthly trips to various sites.
Our local Audubon club supplements that with field trips.
