MUSIC
2011-2012

Newly constructed in 2009, the Fun N Sun music
room is a large, well-lit room that serves as a home for the numerous
amateur musicians in the park. Some of the activities that take place
in the building include:
The Ukulele Band that plays onstage at the Rec
Hall, participates in the talent show, the Luau, and the Mardi Gras
celebration. It also performs at other parks in the valley and at
local nursing homes and adult day-care centers.
Mens Chorus is a popular activity that
attracts many fine singers. The group provides programs for park
entertainment, the Christmas Pageant, and the Luau as well as for
local nursing homes.
Mixed Chorus provides entertainment for the
same venues as the Mens Chorus.
Kitchen Kut-Ups Kazoo Band is a just-for-fun
group that relies on washboards, spoons and other kitchen utensils in
addition to kazoos to produce lively musical entertainment. The Band
participates in local parades as well as talent shows, Christmas
Pageants, Mardi Gras Parades and local events such as the Harlingen
Country Club Ladies Luncheon and the San Benito Youth Livestock Show.
The participants have lots of fun dressing up and performing skits.
Jamming is open to anyone who wants to
participate and has lead to the formation of several bands within the
park that are regular performers on the Rec Hall and Dance Hall
stages.
